When we run events we need to be out the hall by 6pm. That includes clearing up, results all that jazz.

If this is your first time running an event i would leave it at a standard 3 games and try something more unusual next time once you know what is involved.

Cheers for the tips chaps.

What time do we get access to the hall in the morning?

It looks like it'll be best to do the straight 1750pts, 3 games then.

Although I'm going to add in a couple of rules to spice it up bit, well... perhaps 'rules that make people rethink their approach' is a better way of putting it.

1. All objectives have to be on/within buildings or ruins (might need to rethink this if we don't have enough buildings/ruins though)
2. Vehicles cannot drive over/through buildings or ruins unless they are skimmers.
3. Only models dismounted from vehicles can claim objectives.

:)

That's the way that I'm thinking at the minute anyway.

If we are a bit short of buildings/ruins I could make rule 1: All Objectives must be at least 12" from the edge of the tabletop.

Although saying all that I might just write the scenarios so that these rules are incorporated into them so there is no need to specify how objectives work.

I'm thinking along the lines of 2 objective games and 1 Kill point game. I'm tempted to put a special objective in the kill point game though which would count as an extra KP to the player that destroys it - along the lines of destroy the 'uber widget' before it gets into enemy hands.

Not sure the place is big enough for doubles.

I think we could manage it if there was enough interest... us 40k lot are very amenable

Another idea I had Carl (will have to check new book) is to do a 'Battle Missions' tournament either 1500 or 1750pts, could also throw in a kill teams 'warm-up' game!
Each player enters the day prepared to play his army specific missions, but has to randomly choose in conjunction with his opponents missions. So for example a space marine player could build his army to best suit his own 3 special missions, but could end up playing none of them at all but instead maybe one each of an Ork, Tyranid & Imperial Guard mission!! LOL!!

I would be careful of changing things for the sake of changing them.

For example saying all objectives have to be 12" from the table edge is fine for the D3+2 objectives but the 2 objective mission requires you to place your objective in your deployment zone and if you are playing pitched battle then obviously this would jar with the requirement to place it more than 12" from the table edge.

Also saying you can't drive through walls goes against the rule book so be prepared for people to forget it.

Saying objectives have to go in buildings is ok (or any terrain would be fine) but again be prepared for people to forget it as it isn't the 'norm'.

Extra kill points in the kill point game is fine too, i would make it a selection from the force organisation chart. HQ is the stand out choice.

Battle Missions could work but would rely on everyone having a copy of the battle missions book which might put people off. A solution would be to transcribe the mission into the rules pack. If you want to use the battle missions book i would look at putting a mission in which you could use as a generic mission (ie take out the special rules for the armies that are 'meant' to be involved.

I would really like to see the club have more tournaments. since Carl would struggle to run the tournament is there anyone else that would organise and run it?

I'll be at club on Monday so will be able to discuss it then too.

I've been having trouble finding a weekend when I could be free for a day to run the tournament - family commitments proving a bit tricky to juggle.

What time is the AGM?

You guys might have a new logistic problem for tournaments to deal with!
The Legion has replaced ALL of the rectangular tables from the middle of the room with a few bigger Round tables!
