Age of Sigmar night – 31st March

We had a great turn-out at the club this evening with 9 tables set up to play Age of Sigmar.

All counted up we had over 25 players at the club playing Warhammer, Bolt Action and some of the clubs own designed games too.

Derby Wargames is open every Monday and Thursday evening but if you are interested in Warhammer Age of Sigmar then the next organised night is on April 14th.

Bolt Action at Derby Wargames

We have a local group of Bolt Action players that regularly attend the club.

If you are wondering what Bolt Action is, this is from the Warlord Games website,

World War II Wargaming

From Blitzkrieg to North Africa, from the Russian Front to the D-Day Landings, Bolt Action puts YOU in command of the most brutal and famous battles of the Second World War.

Assemble and paint your brave men and armoured tanks, field them on a table-top battlefield, and use all your strategy, cunning and luck to defeat your opponent.

So if you like the sound of that get in touch with us via the contact page on this website or post in the Derby Wargames Society Facebook group

Warhammer Age Of Sigmar club night

We have started to host monthly Age of Sigmar club nights at Derby Wargames Society.

The next planned night is Thursday 3rd March.

Last time we had 8 players here all playing Age of Sigmar, I can’t remember the last time we had so many people playing Warhammer!

If you want to come along and join in you can do, it’s easier than ever to squeeze an extra player into a game, but it will also help to try and book a game in advance.

Anyone is welcome to come along and play, the club is open as normal not just for Age of Sigmar players but we are taking an effort to encourage a good turn out for 1 Warhammer night a month.

If you have never been to Derby Wargames before, we meet every Monday and Thursday night at 7.00pm until 11.00pm and play all manner of Tabletop games including Miniature wargames, Board games and CCG’s.  You are of course welcome to play AoS on any club night.

The clubs venue is:

The Victory Club (previously known as Allenton Royal British Legion)
85 Chellaston Road
Allenton
Derby
DE24 9AF

For more details keep an eye on the clubs Facebook page.

Malifaux Demo Night – Thurs 22nd March

Anybody fancy trying a miniatures game with more than a few differences?
A game that uses cards instead of dice?
A game that isn’t set in the far future or distant past?
A game without Elves or Dwarves? :o
A game that does include Cowboys, Zombies, Living Nightmares and Mad scientists
A game with a low start up cost? :D

On Thursday 22nd March 2012 Mitch (Stern on the Mailfaux forums) will be hosting a Malifaux demo night at Derby Wargames Society for anybody who fancies trying out the game ‘Malifaux’ or simply wants to see what all the crazy miniatures are for.

It looks like it’s going to be a great night which should see visitors popping over from Burton as well as the demoes being run by a very experienced Malifaux player in the form of Mitch (Stern on the Malifaux forums).

You can find out more about Malifaux at the main website http://www.malifaux.com here’s a bit of a taste of what to expect:

Based in an alternate Earth, Malifaux uses gothic, steampunk, Victorian horror with a dose of the wild west to inject fun and depth into the magical lawlessness of a world rife with monsters, necropunks, man-machine hybrids, gunslingers, and power-hungry politicos. Actively using character-driven stories to define the world of Malifaux, seek your fortune in this fast-paced and brutal 32mm tabletop miniature skirmish game. Assemble your crew and stake your claim!

Spirit Games supporting Derby Wargames Society

Those lovely people at Spirit Games in Burton on Trent have kindly agreed to support Derby Wargames Society, here’s what Phil from Spirit had to say:

“As a club member can now ask for and get a 10% volume discount off anything at Spirit Games regardless of how much you buy. This applies to everything except for Magic;the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh”

Phil also mentioned that Spirit Games would like to be kept informed of what’s being played when, so that they can help to send new players our way, so give them a call with any new plans as well as putting them on the club forum.

So if you’re a member of Derby Wargames Society and fancy getting an extra discount when buying your next batch of new shiny toys be sure to drop over at Spirit Games!
